CERN School of Computing at Comtrade wraps up!
Comtrade is thrilled to announce that the prestigious 14th Thematic CERN School of Computing, organized by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), was held in Belgrade, Serbia for the first time. This educational initiative is a testament to the deepening collaboration between Comtrade and CERN. Students gained a platform for cutting-edge knowledge and engaged in meaningful networking, with ITS (Information Technology School) being the first educational institution in Serbia to co-organize a CERN summer school, highlighting the country’s growing prominence in the global scientific community.
CERN’s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and innovation through education is exemplified by its organization of computing schools around the world. CERN School of Computing provides students with an unparalleled opportunity to broaden their horizons, enhance their technical skills, and exchange experiences with leading CERN experts.
The Comtrade campus was selected for its comprehensive facilities, which include modern learning and working spaces, a café, a gym, and a sports hall. Furthermore, the ITS (Information Technology School) within the Comtrade campus stands out as a premier educational institution with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Beyond the excellent CERN academic program, participants enjoyed a range of sports activities and social events, further enriching their educational experience.
To welcome the participants an exciting scavenger hunt was arranged at the Kalemegdan Fortress, introducing them to Serbia’s rich cultural heritage through engaging challenges and tasks.
Another highlight was a visit to the Nikola Tesla Museum, where participants explored the life and inventions of one of the world’s greatest scientists. They delved into Tesla’s Serbian roots, discovering how his early years in Serbia and the cultural influences of his heritage shaped his groundbreaking contributions to science.
All these activities were designed to help participants get to know Serbia and its culture while also enjoying local cuisine at traditional restaurants.
This thematic school being organized at Comtrade is the collaboration between two institutions, aiming to foster education and innovation in scientific software.
With over 30 participants from 13 different countries, the atmosphere was filled with diverse perspectives and innovative ideas. Our participants rocked it with cutting-edge science talks, hands-on workshops, and plenty of fun, including engaging cultural activities and unforgettable experiences.
On the last day, to end the school on a high note, Comtrade organized a lively party that was all about fun and networking! With great music, delicious food, and lots of laughter, participants let loose and shared stories from the school week. New friendships were made, and professional connections were forged in a relaxed, festive atmosphere. It was the perfect way to cap off an amazing week of learning, exploration, and cultural exchange!
